Commission meets after İmralı visit: Minutes are on the agenda! 'They will not remain secret'
Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş announced that the hearing phase of the commission established in Parliament as part of the ongoing process has been completed. It was reported that the commission will now move on to the reporting phase.
Grand National Assembly of Turkey Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş made comprehensive assessments regarding the stage reached in the ongoing process in a statement he made before the commission meeting. Kurtulmuş officially announced that the hearing section of the commission has ended.
“THE HEARING PHASE IS COMPLETED, MOVING TO THE REPORTING STAGE”
Stating that the process is being carried out as a state policy, Kurtulmuş expressed that this framework has reached today as a result of contacts made with all state institutions. Emphasizing that the work carried out is not a “give-and-take process,” Kurtulmuş stated that the process gained momentum after the dissolution of the organization and that the commission was formed with members from the 11 parties that have groups in the TBMM.
Reminding that it was decided to go to the island by majority vote at the last meeting, Kurtulmuş reported that the visit took place on November 24, that the hearing phase of the commission has been completed at the point reached, and that the reporting phase will follow.
“JOINT OPINIONS WILL BE REFLECTED IN THE REPORT”
Noting that joint opinions will be included in the report to be prepared, Kurtulmuş stated that an important threshold of the process will have been crossed with the report in question. Stating that they had previously requested their own reports from the parties that are members of the commission, Kurtulmuş said that these texts were recorded and the entire process was entered into the official minutes.
Pointing out that the process has reached a highly sensitive point, Kurtulmuş expressed that a period has begun where every word can have major effects. He emphasized that the common goal is for terrorism to end, for homes not to be extinguished, and for the country's future not to be handed over to dark hands.
“THE PROCESS SHOULD NOT BE TABLOIDIZED”
Stating that the concrete results to be put forward are of great importance, Kurtulmuş said that the process should not be tabloidized and that maximum attention should be paid to the language used. Expressing that this issue is not just the issue of one or a few parties, but of all of Turkey, Kurtulmuş stated that if success is achieved, the winner will be Turkey.
THE COMMISSION'S LAST MEETING WAS HELD ON NOVEMBER 21
The commission held its previous last meeting on Friday, November 21, under the chairmanship of Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. In line with the decision taken at this meeting, it was decided that a delegation would go to İmralı on November 24.
Following the meeting on November 21, a delegation consisting of AKP's Hüseyin Yayman, DEM Party's Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, and MHP's Feti Yıldız visited PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı. The CHP and the New Path Group decided not to send a delegation to İmralı.
