DEM Party officials blocked from entering Batman
The entry of Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) officials, who were traveling to Batman to protest the appointment of a trustee, was blocked by security forces. Following the blockade, the DEM Party members staged a sit-in.
The entry of DEM Party officials, who were traveling to the Batman Municipality—where a trustee was recently appointed by the Ministry of Interior—was blocked.
The path of the officials, including DBP Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Ayşe Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun, as well as Diyarbakır DEM Party and DBP provincial executives, was cut off by the gendarmerie 18 kilometers before reaching Batman.
THEY STAGED A SIT-IN
The officials decided to stage a sit-in due to the blockade. The DEM Party members, who wanted to enter the city to protest the violence used against citizens during demonstrations against the trustee and the appointment of a trustee to the municipality, were stopped by soldiers.
Following this, the DEM Party and DBP officials began a sit-in. Upon the sit-in, the soldiers opened the road they had blocked. With the road opened, the delegation proceeded toward Batman.
