Leaders of the '68 youth movement Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Aslan, and Hüseyin İnan were executed on May 6, 1972, at Ulucanlar Prison in Ankara after the death penalty handed down by the Ankara No. 1 Martial Law Military Court following the March 12 memorandum was approved by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
