Devlet Bahçeli's 'püskevit' grievance: 'Those ignorant people who didn't understand that speech back then...'
MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli spoke at his party's parliamentary group meeting. Offering a Ramadan message, Bahçeli expressed his grievance by recalling a statement he made in the past. Bahçeli stated, "Using the Gavurdağı dialect from my hometown, I had said, 'Where is my püskevit (biscuit), my chocolate?' Those ignorant people who did not understand this speech back then spent weeks mocking the word 'püskevit' with derisive expressions. It is very sad that even our own friends could not grasp the depth that this appeal deserved."

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made statements regarding the agenda.
Highlights from Bahçeli's speech are as follows:
'RAMADAN' MESSAGE
"God willing, we will observe the first day of Ramadan al-Sharif this coming Thursday. My prayer in this blessed month is for sick hearts to find healing, for those in trouble to find relief, and for those in debt to find a way to pay. This month is the month in which our Holy Book, the Quran, was revealed. As the gates of heaven are opened wide on the occasion of Ramadan, the gates of hell are locked and the devils are chained. In a period when the troubles humanity is exposed to are branching out and growing, we are in great need of self-discipline, purity of heart, contemplation of conscience, and the manifestation of peace. This state of need becomes more urgent with each passing day. Unfortunately, humanity is in the middle of a dangerous vortex, at the focal point of an intricate puzzle whose solution is becoming increasingly complex. On one hand, there are bloody conflicts, endless strife, civil wars, struggles for dominance, unstable geographies, polarized countries, economic difficulties, and the dark face of oppression and injustice; on the other hand, there are the cries of the oppressed, the sighs of the destitute, and the constantly whipped grievances of the innocent."
REACTION TO ISRAEL
Look, the most severe crime against humanity of the last century has been committed in Gaza. For some reason, the screams of nursing babies, children driven into the gears of genocide, the elderly and women slowly left to die in concentration camps—in short, an innocent and blameless civilian population—have not been heard enough, and sufficient sensitivity has not been shown. The spoiled and genocidal Israeli Prime Minister and his government, far from having the slightest sense of remorse, have continued their human rights violations and denial of justice and law with tyranny. When one thinks of Ramadan, what comes to mind and heart is patience, compassion, sincerity, generosity, mercy, prayer, tolerance, feeding the hungry, and reaching out to those in need. However, these humanitarian and conscientious virtues are begrudged to our Palestinian brothers and sisters, and are being deliberately ignored.
The spoiled and genocidal Israeli Prime Minister and his government have continued their human rights violations through force. The latest decision regarding land settlement in the West Bank is as much a violation of international law as it is a confirmation that the ongoing genocide is progressing through different channels.
'PÜSKEVİT' GRIEVANCE
Remember, years ago in a speech, I wanted to be the voice of the innocent children of my country who look into their mothers' and fathers' eyes.
I wished to be the interpreter for their souls, who feel their deprivation deep in their hearts and yearn for more. And using the Gavurdağı dialect from my hometown, I said, 'Where is my püskevit (biscuit), my chocolate?' As the poet says, I aimed to be the one for the helpless and lonely to call out to.
Those ignorant people who did not understand this speech back then spent weeks mocking the word 'püskevit' with derisive expressions.
And sadly, it is sad that even our own friends could not grasp the depth that this appeal deserved. Let it be. Mistakes are for humans too.
MUNICH CONFERENCE
The 62nd Security Conference, held in Munich, Germany, between February 13-15, 2026, was spent with intense discussions about the international order being in a process of collapse. The aforementioned conference, held under the theme 'Under Collapse,' was practically a scene for the declaration of the obvious. Similar discussions took place at the Davos Summit held on January 19-23, 2026. It is clear what is collapsing, and it is clear who is causing the collapse. However, what will be established, how, and when it will be established has settled into the depths of uncertainty and the unknown."
