Economist Korhan Berzeg laid to rest
The funeral of economist Korhan Berzeg, who went missing in June of last year and whose remains were found in a rural area of the Gönen district of Balıkesir, has been held. Nisa Berzeg emphasized that they would like to thank everyone who supported them during the approximately one-year period her father was missing, noting that the process was very difficult.
The remains identified as belonging to economist Korhan Berzeg, who had been missing since leaving his home for a morning walk in the Armutlu neighborhood of Gönen, Balıkesir, last June, have been laid to rest following a funeral ceremony.
The examination of the skull and other bone fragments, which were found approximately 3.5 kilometers from Armutlu and determined to belong to Berzeg, has been completed at the Istanbul Council of Forensic Medicine.
HIS REMAINS WERE HANDED OVER TO HIS FAMILY
The bones identified as belonging to Berzeg were brought to the Gönen District Gendarmerie Command and handed over to the economist's wife, Angela Berzeg, and his daughters, Nisa and Sibel.
Following the funeral prayer held at the Armutlu Mosque, Korhan Berzeg was laid to rest in the neighborhood cemetery next to the grave of his father, Muhsin Berzeg.
MANY ATTENDED THE CEREMONY
The funeral was attended by Gönen District Governor Arslan Yurt, Gönen Mayor İbrahim Palaz, Balıkesir Provincial Gendarmerie Deputy Commander Colonel Ali Bahadır Aslan, Gönen District Gendarmerie Commander Captain Selçuk Civan, Gönen District Police Chief Aydın Zeybek, and local citizens.
Nisa Berzeg thanked everyone who supported them during the approximately one-year period her father was missing, emphasizing that the process was very difficult. She also noted that since the investigation has not yet concluded, they want the process to continue.
