Eventful congress in the Democrat Party: 2 MPs to resign!

Democrat Party Chairman Gültekin Uysal's surprise decision to hold a congress has caused controversy within the party.

The Democrat Party Deputy Chairman and Istanbul MP, along with Democrat Party Izmir MP Salih Uzun, announced that they would not attend the congress and had decided not to take part in any duties during the event.

The 15th Ordinary Congress of the Democrat Party convened at the Meyra Palace Hotel Congress Hall under the slogan "Turkey's movement of common sense - The word belongs to the nation again."

'OUR ADMINISTRATIVE CADRES ARE FAITHLESS'

It was noted that Uysal, in his speech at the congress, used the expressions, "Our administrative cadres are faithless and spineless."

Following the congress, which was marked by a struggle over candidacy, journalist İsmail Saymaz wrote that 2 MPs would resign from the Democrat Party.

With the resignations, the number of MPs in the Democrat Party will drop to one.

İLAY AKSOY'S CANDIDACY WAS NOT ACCEPTED

Democrat Party General Administrative Board Member İlay Aksoy had announced in a statement on November 15 that she would be a candidate for the Democrat Party Chairmanship against Gültekin Uysal.

The Chairman of the Council announced that some delegates had withdrawn their signatures and that some signatures were deemed invalid. Aksoy's candidacy was not accepted.

Reacting to her candidacy being rejected, İlay Aksoy said, "You have staged a coup against your own party today. You have placed a mortgage on the will of so many people. You are no different from the AK Party."
