A fire that occurred in the courthouse building in Bartın this morning caused brief alarm. Courthouse staff, who noticed smoke rising from the kitchen on the second floor of the building around 10:30 AM, first attempted to intervene with fire extinguishers.
It was determined that the fire, which started in the kitchen where meals were being prepared, was caused by oil on the counter catching fire. Due to the dense smoke that spread suddenly, public personnel and citizens were quickly evacuated from the building.
Upon notification, Bartın Municipality fire department teams and police were dispatched to the scene. While the fire crews brought the small-scale fire under control in a short time, the smoke inside the courthouse was evacuated using exhaust fans. It was reported that no one was injured during the incident.
According to initial findings, the fire was caused by the ignition of accumulated oil in the kitchen. The Bartın Police Department has launched an investigation into the incident.
