Following the minimum wage announcement, figures for the daily meal allowance have also been determined

The minimum wage to be applied in 2025 was announced to the public yesterday (December 24, 2024) by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan.

In his statement during a live broadcast, Minister Işıkhan announced that the new minimum wage has been set at 22,104 TL.

Following the minimum wage increase, the daily meal allowance to be paid to employees also became a subject of curiosity.

Here is the current information on this matter:

At the beginning of 2024, the daily meal allowance for employees was set at 187 TL, including VAT. That year, while the minimum wage increased by 49.11 percent, the increase rate in meal allowances was 54.54 percent.

With the new minimum wage hike, an increase of at least 30 percent is expected in the daily meal allowance for employees.

With this increase, it is projected that the daily meal allowance will rise from 187 TL to 243.1 TL starting from January 1, 2025.

Within the scope of this increase, when calculated over 26 working days, the monthly meal allowance to be paid to workers will rise from 4,862 TL to 6,320.6 TL.

Thus, the difference resulting from the increase in employees' meal allowance will be 1,458 TL.
