Chilling testimony from 16-year-old killer who martyred 2 police officers: 'I don't like Atatürk, I like ISIS'

The 16-year-old perpetrator, E.B., who carried out the attack on a police station in İzmir that resulted in the martyrdom of two police officers, stated in his testimony that the reason he stopped attending school was, "I did not want to go to school because it is 'Taghut' (idolatrous). I do not like Atatürk. Because Atatürk does not rule with the laws revealed by Allah. Ruling with secularism is opposing Allah."

He stated that his family and teachers did not question this situation, and that his friends knew he sympathized with ISIS.

RADICALIZATION BEGAN DURING RAMADAN

According to the records shared by journalist İsmail Saymaz in his column, E.B.'s radicalization process began during the month of Ramadan in 2025. In his testimony, he said, "I saw that in Salafism, one does not go beyond the Quran and the Sunnah. This ideology seemed more suitable to me. I have liked ISIS for two months. My mother and father were unaware of this."

E.B. stated that he changed his social media accounts before the attack and changed his name on Instagram to "Muvahhid." In his testimony, he said, "This means having the belief of Tawhid. Before the attack, I shared a post saying, 'I will perform istishhad (martyrdom operation) soon.'"

CHOSE THE POLICE STATION AS A TARGET

Stating that the speeches of organization leader Baghdadi were influential in his decision to carry out the act, E.B. said, "I listened to his speech this summer about Turkey being within the scope of jihad. I first thought about targeting a concert, then a bar. In the end, I decided on the police station next to our house."

Describing the day of the act, he said, "I fired at the two police officers sitting in the police station courtyard. During the clash, I threw the explosive I had prepared. My goal was to ensure they would fire more at me."
