Flash development in the Narin Güran murder case: Decision reached regarding mother Yüksel Güran

The trial regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır, which deeply shook the public conscience, concluded on December 28.

Detained defendants mother Yüksel, brother Enes, and uncle Salim Güran were each sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional killing of a child in complicity," while Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime."

APPEAL AGAINST MOTHER YÜKSEL GÜRAN'S DETENTION

The lawyer for mother Yüksel Güran had submitted a petition to the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court, where the trial was held, requesting the release of their client.

COURT REJECTS RELEASE REQUEST

Evaluating the request, the Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court concluded that there was no inaccuracy in the decision made by the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court on December 28, 2024, regarding the continuation of Yüksel Güran's detention, and that the decision was in accordance with procedure and law. The court rejected the release request made by the defendant's lawyers and unanimously ruled for the continuation of the defendant's detention.
