Grieving father who lost his son to a knife attack, Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, recounts the second shock he experienced: He revealed the heartbreaking truth

New developments have emerged in the case of 15-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who was severely injured in a knife attack at a flea market in Kadıköy, Istanbul, and later passed away in the hospital.

While the indictment has been completed, prison sentences ranging from 18 to 24 years have been requested for the two suspects, aged 15 and 16, involved in the attack. However, because they are under 18, it is not possible for them to receive a sentence of aggravated life imprisonment.

'A NEW LAW SHOULD BE ENACTED'

Speaking to NTV about his son's death, father Andre Minguzzi said that the incident is a tragedy from which lessons must be learned, not just for their own child, but for the future of all young people.

"Even if these criminals receive the maximum sentence, they could be released within 10 years," the grieving father said, expressing that a new legal regulation is needed to prevent such incidents. "Ahmet will not come back, but let this not happen to other children. Let a law be enacted in Ahmet's name; let this incident serve as a precedent," he said.

''THIS WAS NOT A FIGHT, IT WAS AN ATTACK''

Reacting to some media reports that described his son's murder as a "fight" or "clash," father Minguzzi stated, "This was not a fight, it was an attack. My son did not retaliate in any way. The claim that 'he provoked us' is a complete lie."

ORGANS COULD NOT BE DONATED

Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who fought for his life in intensive care for two weeks following the knife attack, was declared brain dead. His family wanted to donate their son's organs, but they were informed that the organs could not be used due to the severe trauma he had sustained.

Stating that they received this news with great sadness, father Minguzzi recounted the second shock they experienced, saying, "It was a difficult decision, but we decided to donate because we wanted Ahmet to live on. But unfortunately, these monsters caused so much damage to my son that the doctors said, 'we cannot use them'."
