Hamas statement on Turkey: 'We are pleased'
Turkey's application to intervene in the genocide case filed against Israel at the International Court of Justice has been welcomed by Hamas. Emphasizing Turkey's support for the Palestinian cause, Hamas called on other countries to join the case.
Hamas has announced that it welcomes Turkey's application to intervene in the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
In a written statement from Hamas, it was noted that Turkey's submission of its declaration of intervention to the ICJ is "seen as a confirmation of the support provided by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the brotherly Turkish people for the realization of justice in the Palestinian cause and for the rights of the Palestinian people, who have been subjected to brutal genocidal attacks for more than 10 months."
The statement, which conveyed that Turkey's application to intervene in the genocide case against Israel at the ICJ was welcomed, included the following: "We call on all countries of the world, especially Arab and Islamic countries, to take urgent action by joining the case filed at the ICJ and to work to form a united front to put an end to the Nazi occupation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the threat that Israel poses to regional peace."
Turkey had submitted its declaration of intervention in the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to the Court.
With this, Turkey became the seventh country to file a notice of intervention in the genocide case between South Africa and Israel at the ICJ, following Nicaragua, Colombia, Libya, Mexico, Palestine, and Spain.
Turkey stands out as the most significant regional country to have filed a notice of intervention to date.
