The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Investigation Bureau for Illegal Betting and Sports Crimes has issued a detention order for Muzaffer Şirin, known as the leader of the ultrAslan fan group, who changed his name to Sebahattin Şirin.

It was stated that the investigation conducted into Şirin covers allegations of violating Articles 14 and 15 of Law No. 6222, possession and use of narcotics under Article 191 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), organized black-market ticket fraud under Article 220 of the TCK, and 'publicly spreading misleading information' as defined in Article 217/A of the TCK.

The following statement was released by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office:

"Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office due to certain social media posts; a detention order has been issued for the person known as the leader of the ultrAslan fan group, Sebahattin Şirin (original name Muzaffer Şirin), for the crimes of violating Law No. 6222 (Articles 14, 15, and under TCK Article 220), TCK Article 217/A, and TCK Article 191 (drug use), and the suspect has been taken into custody. This is announced for public information."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Yesterday, Şirin had written a letter to Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek. Stating that he found the reopening of the Uğur Mumcu murder case 'very valuable,' Şirin had expressed his support for the process.

In the remainder of the letter, Şirin brought up an allegation regarding football, claiming that they had heard rumors that a group within the state would make Fenerbahçe the champion this season. Şirin alleged that Gürlek's name was also mentioned in these claims, but stated that they did not want to believe it.
