Heartbreaking detail in fire that killed mother and 5 children in Antalya
Following the fire in a prefabricated structure used by greenhouse workers in Antalya's Kepez district, which claimed the lives of a 7-month-pregnant mother and her 5 children, the father and his son, who were affected by smoke, continue to receive treatment in the hospital. It was learned that the father had told his children before the incident, "Tomorrow is the holiday, let's go to bed early."
A fire broke out during the night in a prefabricated structure used for housing by greenhouse workers on 310 Street in the Gaziler neighborhood of Antalya's Kepez district. The flames, believed to have been caused by a stove, quickly engulfed the structure. Upon reports from local residents, numerous fire, gendarmerie, and medical teams were dispatched to the area. Although initial attempts to intervene were made by people in the vicinity, their efforts were insufficient due to the rapid spread of the flames.
THE TRAGEDY REVEALED AT DAYBREAK
During the fire, 4 people from the foreign national family inside were pulled out with the help of those nearby. Teams from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department worked intensively to prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent structures. After a long intervention, the fire was brought under control and completely extinguished in the morning hours. Inspections revealed that 6 people from the same family, including 5 children, had lost their lives in the prefabricated structure. In the incident, Leyle Elali (26), who was learned to be 7 months pregnant, along with children Ahmed (5), Ahmet Ahmed (2), and the business owner Rahman Genç were taken to the hospital with injuries.
FATHER AND YOUNG CHILD CONTINUE TREATMENT
It was learned that the father, Şevvah Ahmed, and his 2-year-old son, Ahmed Ahmed, who were affected by smoke, are continuing their treatment in the hospital. It was stated that the father had told his children in the evening before the fire, "Tomorrow is the holiday, let's go to bed early," and then they went to sleep.
FUNERALS TO BE SENT TO MANBIJ
The bodies of the mother, Leyle Elali, and her 5 children, who lost their lives, were taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue following investigations at the scene. It was learned that the family's relatives will receive the bodies on Monday due to paperwork, and the mother and children will be laid to rest in the city of Manbij, Syria.
