How citizens view the AKP's insistence on Kanal Istanbul: Survey results announced
The Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA), affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), shared the results of a survey on its social media account regarding how Istanbul residents view the Kanal Istanbul project.
Striking results emerged from a survey in which the opinions of Istanbul residents were sought regarding Kanal Istanbul.
In a statement made on the social media account of the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA), affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), it was announced that the opinions of Istanbul residents were taken regarding Kanal Istanbul and that 77.2 percent do not support the Kanal Istanbul Project.
77 PERCENT DO NOT WANT IT
The following statements were included in the announcement made by the IPA:
"The IMM Istanbul Planning Agency asked Istanbul residents for their views on Kanal Istanbul: 77.2 percent of Istanbul residents stated that they do not support the Kanal Istanbul Project.
Among the most important reasons cited by those who do not support it were that it causes environmental destruction at 53.8 percent and that it poses an earthquake risk at 39.1 percent. The rate of those who said, 'It is not for need, it will create a rent-seeking area in the city,' was 31.2 percent."
