How Özgür Özel joined the light protest
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had invited all citizens struggling with the cost of living to turn their lights on and off at 9:00 PM. Özel shared a video on his social media account showing him doing just that.
In his party's parliamentary group meeting, Özel had stated, "I am calling out to Turkey: Stand up tonight at 9:00 PM! If you want a raise for the minimum wage, pensions, tea, and wheat, turn your lights on and off tonight. Either there will be a raise and a way to make a living, or there is no other way but an election!"
While citizens showed their reaction by turning their lights on and off at 9:00 PM, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also turned his lights on and off alongside Ankara deputies when the clock struck 9, expressing his protest.
Özel shared the video in which he is seen turning the lights on and off with the following note:

"At 9:00 PM, we turned our lights on and off with our Ankara deputies.
Either there will be a way to make a living, or there will be an election!"
