İmamoğlu's assessment of the 'February 28 case' decision
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu spoke to journalists in Rome and evaluated the decision to lift the sentences of the commanders who were victims of the February 28 case.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is in Rome for the European Games signing ceremony, made statements regarding the decision to lift the sentences of the generals who were victims of the February 28 conspiracy case.
Describing the pardon decision, which came into effect with Erdoğan's signature, as 'belated', İmamoğlu commented to journalists as follows:
“This is a belated decision. There is old age involved. It fits neither the law, nor the judiciary, nor justice. We are happy that this happened. It is delayed justice. I am pleased, but it is a belated satisfaction. Should those convicted in the Gezi case be released tomorrow? They should.”
