İmamoğlu reacts to access ban by going live on Instagram: We found a way, we are still accessing it
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted to the access ban imposed on Instagram during a live broadcast on his Instagram account. İmamoğlu stated, "We found a way, we are still accessing it. Everyone is accessing it. What you are doing will not go unpunished."
The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) has blocked access to the social media platform Instagram on the grounds that it "did not comply with catalog crimes."
While citizens reacted to the access ban imposed on Instagram, another reaction came from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Starting a live broadcast from his Instagram account, İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu said the following:
"I interpret the restriction imposed today as a method unfortunately resorted to by ordinary and at the same time meaningless, sometimes weak administrators. This is not how it works. I see this restriction imposed today as an interference with freedoms. We are against such restrictions. Do not do this. This has no benefit to this country. Please do not restrict anyone's access rights. Look, we are finding a way, we are accessing it. Everyone is accessing it. What you are doing will not go unpunished."
