IMM Assembly to convene in extraordinary session on March 24
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Assembly will convene in an extraordinary session on Monday, March 24, following the corruption and terrorism investigations launched into the IMM.
An invitation letter for the Assembly's 1st Extraordinary Meeting was sent to Assembly members under the signature of IMM Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan.
The letter stated, "In accordance with Article 13 of the Metropolitan Municipality Law No. 5216, the 1st Extraordinary Meeting of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Assembly will be held on Monday, March 24, at 14:00 in the Assembly Meeting Hall located within the municipal headquarters in Fatih Saraçhane."
The IMM Assembly will discuss "the establishment of a research commission to examine the allegations shared with the public regarding the IMM and its subsidiaries and to inform relevant institutions and the public about the results," as well as "making the necessary budget adjustments to ensure that the personnel of companies whose accounts have been seized due to the investigation conducted by the Public Prosecutor's Office do not suffer and that their wages are paid."
In a second letter sent to the Assembly members, the phrase "Due to necessity, it has been deemed required to move the meeting time on the same date from 14:00 to 10:00" was used.
