Israeli President Herzog makes request regarding 'BBC', UK Prime Minister Sunak does not respond

Israeli President Isaac Herzog, in a meeting held today in Israel with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, requested that the British broadcaster BBC change its editorial policy and define Hamas as a "terrorist organization."

According to a written statement from the Israeli Presidency, Herzog held a meeting in West Jerusalem with Sunak, who arrived in Israel by military aircraft in the morning.

EMPHASIS ON 'INTEREST' FOR EUROPE

Claiming that they are "fighting one of the worst organizations in the world," Herzog addressed Sunak, saying, "I know that in democracies like yours and ours, you cannot intervene. The British have a special connection to the BBC worldwide. Therefore, there should be an outcry for it to be corrected and for Hamas to be defined as a terrorist organization on this platform as well."

Herzog claimed that they are fighting a "terrorist organization" that has entered their borders and that it is directed by Iran, as is the case in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen, stating, "This is an international interest, a security interest of all European nations. This is how we see this moment."

It was stated that Sunak did not provide any response to Herzog's request concerning the BBC during the meeting.

BBC HAD ANNOUNCED IT COULD NOT VERIFY ISRAEL'S CLAIMS

In Gaza, where Israel continues its attacks, 471 people lost their lives and 342 people, 28 of whom were in critical condition, were injured in the bombing of the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital on October 17.

The BBC had announced that it could not verify the claims made by the Israeli military accusing Islamic Jihad regarding the hospital attack.

The Israeli military had reacted to the BBC in a post on its English-language account on the X social media platform.
