Wave of resignations in İYİ Party Bursa: Successive departures in districts
The process of resignations and dismissals within the İYİ Party organization in Bursa has further intensified internal party debates. Following the dismissal of the Osmangazi and Mudanya district chairs, district chairs and administrations in Nilüfer, as well as Mustafakemalpaşa, Orhaneli, and Büyükorhan, have announced their resignations.
Nilüfer District Chair Osman Çalışkan argued that the ongoing process is a clear intervention in the will of the organization. Stating that they oppose the removal of district chairs from their duties, Çalışkan expressed that there has been long-standing discontent among the party base.
Touching upon the debates during the provincial administration process, Çalışkan alleged that pressure and mobbing were applied to certain organizations.
"We believe that what is being done under the guise of 'incompatibility' is actually an effort to purge those who do not pledge allegiance," said Çalışkan, expressing that the dismissals harm intra-party democracy.
"Those who come by election should leave by election"
Arguing that the dismissal decisions were groundless, Çalışkan stated, "Those who come by election should leave by election. We see that this understanding is being moved away from." Stating that the process has led to a loss of trust within the organizations, Çalışkan said that a healthy working environment no longer exists.
"Do not enter an election you will lose" claim
İYİ Party Osmangazi District Chair Hüseyin Bozkurt Kaplan also made notable statements. Claiming that his deputy told him before the election process, "Do not enter an election you will lose," Kaplan stated that this approach does not align with intra-party democracy. "Telling a district chair 'do not be a candidate' is declaring that you will stand against them," he said, reacting to the process. Kaplan argued that what is happening is not personal, but directed at the will of the organization.
"We were dismissed under pressure" claim
İYİ Party Mudanya District Chair Ersin Erdönmez made striking allegations regarding the dismissal process. Stating that he was presented with the reason of "incompatibility" during meetings held in Ankara, Erdönmez claimed that this decision was based on his political preferences.
Erdönmez alleged that some administrators pressured district chairs who did not support their own candidates, saying, "This is a quest for rights. The excuse of incompatibility does not reflect the truth."
Collective resignation decision
Following these developments, the district chairs came together and announced their joint decision to resign from their posts. It was stated that along with Nilüfer District Chair Osman Çalışkan, the district chairs of Mustafakemalpaşa, Orhaneli, and Büyükorhan also resigned.
Following these developments in the organizations, all eyes have turned to how the party structure in Bursa will be reshaped.
