Journalist Deniz Zeyrek asked three AKP deputies a question, and they laughed... So, what did Zeyrek ask?
Journalist Deniz Zeyrek stated that he questioned the understanding of justice in the judiciary during a meeting with AK Party deputies. Drawing attention to the detention of comedian Deniz Göktaş, Zeyrek reacted by saying, "How will you explain social peace when you keep a man who makes jokes in prison while letting a man who fires bullets go free?"
Journalist Deniz Zeyrek shared the dialogue he had with AK Party deputies and his criticisms of the justice system during a program he attended. Stating that he brought the issue directly to them in a setting where three AK Party deputies were present, Zeyrek expressed that the deputies remained silent in the face of his question.
''THEY HAD NO ANSWER''
Describing the moment of the meeting, Deniz Zeyrek used the following expressions:
"I asked an AK Party deputy openly today. Three AK Party deputies were sitting there, and I was sitting across from them. I said, 'How will you explain to the public an environment where someone who posts a tweet is in prison, while someone who fires bullets is free?' They laughed, they just smiled like that... Because they had no answer. You can't explain it anyway, how could you?"
A REMINDER OF DENIZ GÖKTAŞ
Continuing his speech, Zeyrek touched upon the situation of comedian Deniz Göktaş and drew attention to the contradictions in detention decisions, saying the following:
"The man who makes jokes, Deniz Göktaş, has been staying in a well-type prison for 40 days. When you keep Deniz Göktaş inside while letting a man who fires guns, fires bullets, a terrorist, a PKK member go free, how will you explain social peace? These are very serious questions."
