Lawyer for the businessman who made the first report in the IMM case: Murat İlbak offered my client's family a 100 million euro bribe to keep them silent

The 'corruption' investigation conducted into Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his post as Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and arrested, was completed, and a 3,809-page indictment was prepared on November 11, 2025.

In the prepared indictment, it was requested that Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is accused of being the leader of an organization, be sentenced to up to 2,430 years in prison, while Fatih Keleş, who is in the position of an organization manager, be sentenced to up to 1,542 years and 8 months, Murat Ongun to up to 251 years, and Adem Soytekin to up to 51 years in prison.

The first hearing of the case, in which 402 defendants are requested to be sentenced to varying prison terms for different crimes, began today at the Istanbul 40th High Criminal Court in courtroom number 1 located at the Marmara Penal Execution Institutions Campus.

During the hearing, the lawyer for businessman Sedat Kapıdağ, who is a complainant and filed the first complaint against İmamoğlu with the prosecutor's office in 2019, alleged that Murat İlbak, an official at the Vizyonkent Advertising and Marketing Company, offered a bribe to Kapıdağ and his family, stating, "Murat İlbak offered my client's family a 100 million euro bribe to keep them silent. We did not accept this bribe; İlbak is not a 'defendant' in this case, but the people who do business with him have been arrested and are listed as defendants."
