Mansur Yavaş: Retirement should be associated with peace, not poverty

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş made a written statement on his X account regarding World Retirees Day, stating the following: 

"Today is World Retirees Day. Millions of our retirees, who have shed sweat throughout their lives and served their country for years, are unfortunately far from the living conditions they deserve today. They cannot make ends meet. They are struggling even to meet their most basic needs. Rents, medicines, bills, food prices… Each has become a heavy burden. 

Many of our retirees are forced to work a second job or experience the bitterness of not being able to support their children or grandchildren. Yet retirement should have been associated with peace, not poverty. We are working with all our might in Ankara to change this unjust picture. Because we know that our retirees, who have given years to this country, deserve a dignified life until their last breath."
