Ministry announces: Demolition decision for illegal structures in Vaniköy

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has announced that demolition work will begin today for unlicensed and illegal structures located in the Bosphorus Outlook Zone. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) and the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office have also been involved in the process and have initiated legal proceedings.

Ministry announces: Demolition decision for illegal structures in Vaniköy

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has announced that demolition work will be carried out today regarding unlicensed, illegal structures and additions to permitted buildings located in the area identified within the Bosphorus Outlook Zone in Vaniköy, Üsküdar.

In a social media post by the Ministry, it was stated: "It was determined that certain unauthorized construction activities were being carried out within the jurisdiction of the IBB Bosphorus Zoning Directorate, and the unlicensed structures were sealed by our Ministry. The demolition activity regarding the unlicensed, illegal structures and additions to permitted buildings in the identified area will be carried out today under the coordination of our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Provincial Directorate teams."

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change had launched an investigation into a villa construction located within a forested area in Vaniköy, overlooking the Bosphorus.

The following statements were included in the announcement made by the IBB:

"The legal process was initiated immediately; a construction suspension report numbered 2089 was issued on August 16, the construction was sealed and prohibited from operation, and a criminal complaint was filed with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the matter." Minister of Justice Tunç also stated on his social media account: "An ex officio investigation has been initiated by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the structure located in the Vaniköy neighborhood of Istanbul's Üsküdar district, which is in the Bosphorus Outlook Zone, for the crime of 'Causing Zoning Pollution' in accordance with Article 184 of the Turkish Penal Code. No negativity that would spoil the nature of our Istanbul, the apple of the world's eye, will ever be allowed. The investigation is being conducted meticulously."
