Ministry's report on Narin Güran's cousins revealed

The investigation into the murder of Narin Güran, who was made to appear as if she had gone missing on August 21 in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district and whose lifeless body was found 19 days later, continues.

While there are 12 detainees in the murder case that has gripped Turkey, Narin's killer has still not been found.

As the investigation proceeds, teams from the Ministry of Family and Social Services conducted interviews with the cousins of 8-year-old Narin Güran.

Following a preliminary report on the services provided by social workers, psychologists, and psychological counselors to nearly 50 children between the ages of 7 and 13 as part of psychosocial support efforts in the Tavşantepe neighborhood, Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş gave instructions for a more in-depth examination of the children's situations.

In this context, a more comprehensive team was formed to improve the children's psychological well-being and help restore their daily routines.

According to information obtained, the "Tavşantepe Special Team," established within the Department of Psychosocial Support in Disasters and Emergencies, began its work in the village. The expert team, which includes psychologists and psychological counselors, first met with 14 of Narin's cousins under the age of 18.

The team, which monitors the children's social adaptation processes, determined that some of Narin's cousins were experiencing psychological distress due to the incident.

The experts, who identified that feelings of fear and anxiety were prevalent, especially among the younger cousins, recorded that some children stated they "could not continue their education due to social pressures."

Emphasizing the importance of supporting these children with counseling measures to ensure regular follow-ups, the special team also informed district national education directorate officials regarding the cousins who were absent from school.

While it was determined that some cousins were in better condition following the psychological support provided despite being negatively affected by the incident, it was noted that ensuring the children continue their education would be effective in their normalization processes.

As the team's work in the village continues, it was noted that more comprehensive studies would begin immediately after the investigation is completed.
