Müfit Can Saçıntı summoned to give a statement

Artist Müfit Can Saçıntı has announced that he has been summoned to the police station to give a statement due to a joke he made regarding government-appointed trustees during the opening of the 67th Akşehir Nasreddin Hodja Festival.

Saçıntı, who portrayed the representative Nasreddin Hodja at the festival organized by the Akşehir Municipality between July 5-20, had stated in his speech, "I have been appointed as a trustee to Nasreddin Hodja's donkey."

In a post on his social media account, Saçıntı stated that an individual had filed a criminal complaint against him. Emphasizing that the person who filed the complaint was not a member of parliament, the artist noted that he could not go to the police station on the day he was first summoned due to health issues.

Saçıntı later reported that he went to the Kadıköy Rıhtım Police Station, but upon learning that the relevant officer was on leave, the statement process was postponed to Monday. Saçıntı said, "I had tea with the officers and left. It was very good; I couldn't ask if it was 'smuggled tea' (kaçak çay). The officer is on leave, I will go on Monday."

The trustee joke Saçıntı made at the festival had previously made headlines. While the artist criticized the trustee practice with a humorous example in his speech, it was reported that AKP Konya Deputy Mehmet Baykan had left the ceremony area.
