National Security Council meets at the Palace today: What is on the agenda?
The National Security Council will meet at the Palace today after a two-month break. The most important agenda item of the critical meeting will be cross-border counter-terrorism operations.
The National Security Council will meet for the second time this year under the chairmanship of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with a busy agenda once again.
According to information from TRTHaber, the first topic of the critical meeting to be held at the Palace will be counter-terrorism.
Turkey's goal is to complete the security perimeter along the Iraqi border by this summer.
In this context, the meeting will focus on expanding the ongoing operations to eliminate terrorist elements in northern Iraq.
Preparations for Erdoğan's visit to Baghdad later this month will be discussed.
The MGK meeting will also address the attacks by supporters of the terrorist organization PKK against Turks living in Europe and Turkey's diplomatic missions.
RELATIONS WITH THE US
Relations with the Washington administration will be another topic on the council's agenda.
The latest status of the process regarding the procurement of F-16s from the United States and the President's visit to Washington in May will be addressed by the Council.
"RED BOOK" STUDIES
Israel's ongoing attacks in Gaza will also be discussed.
An assessment will be made regarding the contacts being carried out to stop the attacks, ensure the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid, and prevent Israel's efforts to spread the tension across the region.
And the efforts initiated to update the 'National Security Policy Document', known in the public as the 'Red Book'. A presentation will be made at the meeting regarding the progress of the work, which is planned to be submitted for the approval of the MGK before the end of the year.
