New development regarding Dilan Polat, who was taken into custody

An investigation has been launched against social media celebrity Dilan Polat on charges of "insulting the President" due to a video shared on social media.

Polat, who was taken into custody as part of the investigation conducted by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was brought to the courthouse for questioning. Medical teams were called for Polat, who reportedly felt unwell during her statement to the prosecutor.

Having completed her procedures at the prosecutor's office, Dilan Polat was referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for judicial control. The decision regarding the measure to be applied to Polat is expected to be made following the judgeship's interrogation.

Dilan Polat had previously come to the fore in 2023 along with her husband Engin Polat and some of her relatives as part of a financial crimes investigation. In operations conducted in 6 provinces centered in Istanbul, many people, including the Polat couple, were taken into custody.

The file in question included charges of "establishing/managing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "laundering assets derived from crime," and charges related to illegal betting; findings regarding the flow of money between companies in MASAK reports were included in the file.

Dilan Polat, who remained in custody for approximately 9.5 months, was released on August 19, 2024, with judicial control measures and a travel ban imposed. Following her release, Polat was also taken into custody along with her sister Sıla Doğu on charges of "indecent behavior" due to a video from an entertainment venue that appeared on social media, and both were released under judicial control conditions.
