Newborn baby found in water canal

In an incident that occurred in the İzmit district of Kocaeli, citizens who heard a baby crying from the bushes around a water canal notified the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Upon the report, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. During the examinations, a newborn baby girl was found on the edge of the water canal.

It was reported that the baby, who was taken to Kocaeli City Hospital by the teams, is in good health. The baby is estimated to be 3 days old. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
