Night watchman Merih Umutlu, who was serving in the Bayındır district of İzmir, lost his life after being electrocuted on the roof of the police station building.
The incident occurred at the Bayındır District Police Department station building. According to the information obtained, Umutlu, who went up to the roof of the building in the evening hours, was electrocuted for reasons yet to be determined. Losing his balance, Umutlu fell from the roof to the ground and was seriously injured.
Upon notification, medical teams were dispatched to the scene. It was determined that his heart had stopped, and the teams performed CPR on Umutlu. After the initial intervention, Umutlu was taken to Bayındır State Hospital, but could not be saved despite all the doctors' interventions.
It was learned that Merih Umutlu was engaged and preparing to get married in 2 weeks. His family, relatives, and colleagues, who came to the hospital upon receiving the tragic news, were deeply saddened.
Following the public prosecutor's investigation, Umutlu's body was taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue to determine the exact cause of death. It was reported that Umutlu, whose autopsy procedures have been completed, will be laid to rest today.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
