Numan Kurtulmuş warns 'civil politics will be crushed' regarding the reconciliation process! Notable remarks on the 'right to hope'...

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş met with journalists at a suhoor meeting. Kurtulmuş made important statements here regarding current issues.

"THERE IS NO EARLY ELECTION"

Speaking clearly about the early election debates, Kurtulmuş said, "There is no early election."

When reminded of his statement that "It is essential for legal regulations to come to the agenda after Ramadan" regarding the second reconciliation process, referred to as a Terror-Free Turkey, Kurtulmuş explained when the calendar in question would begin as follows:

"The most important aspect of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission report was that all parties reached a consensus on a common text. This report serves as a roadmap. Concrete proposals regarding what can be done were presented in the 6th and 7th chapters. From now on, a rapid legislative phase is required. My opinion is that a consensus should be reached on a common text with the agreement of all parties. It needs to be addressed without wasting much time. I think it will come to the agenda after the holiday.

In the 6th chapter, there is the issue of the 'critical threshold' that was focused on with consensus. It was put forward as a prerequisite that security units must determine that the organization has laid down its arms and disbanded itself for legal regulations to be made. This is not a task for Parliament; security units will do it. If a decision emerges that progress is being made in this direction, legal regulations will be made."

Regarding the debated 'right to hope' for PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and the sentence reduction mentioned for PKK terrorists, Kurtulmuş said:

"First, the parties need to make their own preparations. Some have preparations, others need to complete theirs. Each of them needs to mature what kind of legal regulation they foresee in terms of their own political perspectives and then negotiate."

"THERE IS NO 'RIGHT TO HOPE' IN OUR LEGAL SYSTEM"

Kurtulmuş gave the following response to the question, "Will the 'right to hope' come to Parliament after the holiday?":

"There is no such thing as a 'Right to Hope' in our legal system. There is no heading regarding the 'Right to Hope' in the report either. Some regulations regarding execution can be made. I have personal opinions, but I do not want to state my views on what can be done. Because what is essential is for party groups to step in and put forward a joint effort."

"IF THE PROCESS FAILS, CIVIL POLITICS WILL BE CRUSHED"

Kurtulmuş was asked, "Have you ever felt hopeless?" regarding the process. While answering this question, Kurtulmuş argued that if the process were to 'fail', civil politics would be crushed:

"This is not like 2009, 2013, or previous efforts. If this fails, if the wall collapses, civil politics will be crushed under this wall, and God forbid, when we fail, conditions could turn into something much more dire than they were on August 4, 2025 (the date the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission was established)."
