Only 35 out of 91 approved: The MPs who voted 'yes' to the framework law in the NEW Party

The Bill on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration, prepared for the second opening process and referred to in public as the “framework law,” was accepted in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly.

NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel had announced in his speech at the General Assembly that he and the MPs in the party administration would vote “yes” to the proposal, and had asked other MPs to make their decisions by taking into account the views and expectations of the citizens in the provinces where they were elected.

ÖZEL: “WE WILL SAY ‘YES’ TO THIS LAW”

After criticizing the AKP government and its policies for a long time from the podium, Özel announced that he would vote 'yes' and used the following expressions in his assessment regarding the voting preference of the MPs:

“My fellow executives and I, in a spirit of historical consistency and responsibility, will say ‘yes’ to this law. Our MPs will decide and vote according to what the nation says in the provinces where they were elected. By this statement, I am not leaving the NEW Party Group free in its decision. On the contrary, I am leaving them alone with the responsibility of being the deputies of the nation, taking into account the sensitivities, expectations, concerns, hopes, and excitement of their own provinces, regions, and the social segments they represent.”
