Operator of 'Kütüphane' detained

As part of a drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a large-scale operation was carried out across the city on December 28. Simultaneous raids were conducted on a total of 34 businesses, including entertainment venues and hotels.

DRUGS AND WEAPONS SEIZED

During the searches, cocaine, skunk, liquid cannabis, and drug paraphernalia were seized, along with unlicensed firearms, magazines, and ammunition. It was reported that the operations covered businesses in various parts of Istanbul.

BUSINESSES SEARCHED ANNOUNCED

Various criminal elements were identified during inspections at numerous businesses, including Amaya, Bebek Otel, Taksim Club IQ, Kastel Elektro Müzik, and Suma Han.

KÜTÜPHANE OPERATOR ALSO IN CUSTODY

Following the operation, it was stated that Yılmaz Efe, the operator of the nightclub named Kütüphane, which was mentioned alongside journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy who was arrested as part of the drug investigation, has also been detained. Burak Doğan, a reporter for the pro-government media outlet Yeni Şafak, announced that Efe was referred to the courthouse along with other individuals detained on December 28.

It was noted that the other operators of Kütüphane, Umut Evirgen and Yaşar Koz, were also detained but were released after giving their statements.

A total of 19 people were detained as part of the operations, including rapper Ege Karataşlı, 2016 Miss Turkey winner Buse İskenderoğlu, fashion designer Rabia Yaman, social media influencer Nilay Didem Kılavuz, and business owner Bahri Güneş.

Rapper Ege Karataşlı, who was referred to the courthouse after his statement, was arrested. Judicial control measures, including a travel ban and a signature requirement, were imposed on Ali Baran Süzer and Bahri Güneş.

While 15 suspects whose police procedures were completed were referred to the courthouse today, it was reported that one more person is expected to be brought to the courthouse tomorrow. It was stated that 23 people have been arrested to date as part of the investigation, while Kasım Garipoğlu, Şeyma Subaşı, and Mert Vidinli remain at large.
