ÖSYM fills its coffers in 10 years!
ÖSYM has significantly increased its revenues through hikes in exam fees. While the LGS exam organized by the Ministry of National Education (MEB) is conducted free of charge, ÖSYM demands record-level fees for all the exams it organizes. The total revenue generated by ÖSYM from exams over the last 10 years has reached 15.2 billion TL.
According to a report by Sözcü, while the LGS organized by the Ministry of National Education (MEB) is held for free, approximately 11 million candidates participate each year in centralized exams organized by ÖSYM, such as YKS, YDS, KPSS, and MSÜ.
MULTIPLIED ITS REVENUES
ÖSYM implemented a 52 percent hike in exam fees in 2024. With this increase, it raised its exam revenue to the 6.6 billion TL level for 2025. Having generated 4.4 billion TL in revenue from exams in 2024, ÖSYM increased the session fee, which was 295 TL last year, to 450 TL this year. Candidates who will participate in the YKS in three sessions (TYT, AYT, YDT) had to pay a total of 1350 TL for the 2025 exam.
GIANT REVENUE IN 10 YEARS
According to the Court of Accounts report, approximately 90 percent of ÖSYM's revenues come from the YKS and KPSS exams. The institution generated a total of 15 billion 280 million TL in revenue from the centralized exams it conducted in the 2016-2025 period.
