Former Search and Rescue Association (AKUT) President Nasuh Mahruki was arrested after going to the Istanbul Courthouse to give a statement to the prosecutor as part of an investigation launched due to his social media posts regarding the Supreme Election Council (YSK). CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to the arrest of Mahruki, who was detained on the grounds of "publicly disseminating misleading information."

In his social media post, Özel stated the following:

"The arrest of Nasuh Mahruki based on his tweets demonstrates the extent to which justice has become politicized. This arrest decision must be overturned immediately.

Our country will eventually achieve a democracy where no one is arrested for the words they speak or the words they write. Our struggle is for those beautiful days."
