CHP candidate Deniz Yağan, who won the election by a margin of 83 votes in the March 31 elections, was re-elected mayor today by increasing the margin to 289 in the repeat elections. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also made a statement to the press, noting that the number of municipalities held by the CHP has increased in the renewed elections.

"THE VOTER IS SENDING A MESSAGE, THEY ARE NOT UNDERSTANDING"

"The voter is sending a message, and they are not understanding. We had already won the election in Pınarbaşı in the previous elections. The MHP deputy there (Baki Ersoy) first wreaked havoc there. He threatened judges and used profanities. Unthinkable things happened. The elections were repeated. What happened? Today, we won that place with a margin of 284 votes.

The voter punishes those who show disrespect for their own decision. It is that simple. We said this on the evening of March 31 as well. In every election, the voter writes a letter. If you read and understand that letter, they reward you. If you do not understand, they punish you. Not getting spoiled by this success is something like this. Accepting defeat and learning a lesson from it is also something like this. If you say, 'No, I do not accept it, I will resort to brute force,' then the voter will show you what brute force means in the next election.

"HE MADE A MISTAKE"

Our deputy colleague in Kayseri made a mistake. He made his party make a mistake. The voter corrected this error. The voter's decision is clear; they are saying we will not surrender to brute force. If the state and the nation come face to face, the nation wins. We are on the side of the nation. If you bring the state's water cannon (TOMA) and disrupt the vote counting line, the voter will think, ponder, and teach you a lesson. It is that clear. We were ambitious in the elections in 3 places. We won two of them. In Tunceli, the CHP may have maintained its votes, but the AKP appears to have increased its votes there, albeit not significantly.
