Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş: Al-Aqsa Mosque is our red line

The clashes that began between Israel and Palestinian groups yesterday morning have shifted all focus to the region. Heads of state and politicians have issued messages of peace and made their positions known. AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan followed a moderate policy regarding the operation, stating, "As Turkey, in light of the events in Israel this morning, we call on the parties to act with restraint and to refrain from impulsive steps that will escalate the tension."

Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş, however, shared a new tweet today on the X (formerly Twitter) social media platform regarding the ongoing conflict in Israel. Kurtulmuş stated the following:

''TURKEY'S STANCE IS CLEAR''

''We are watching with sadness and grief as the Al-Aqsa Mosque remains under occupation and attack. Unfortunately, the atrocities committed in the Middle East, on Palestinian lands, have reached their peak. We are watching the tension of the last two days with concern. We advise both sides to remain calm and exercise restraint to resolve this issue. However, it is our right to ask the whole world this question: What happened that the Palestinian lands, where our ancestors brought peace and security for four centuries, have turned into a sea of blood today? Turkey's stance is clear. The sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque is above all else. The Al-Aqsa Mosque is the red line of Muslims.''
