Support from the US for Turkey's call! 'Exercise restraint and...'
The US Embassy in Ankara has announced that it supports the calls made by Turkey and many world leaders to reduce violence following the attack launched yesterday by the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, from the blockaded Gaza Strip into Israel.
The US Embassy in Ankara shared a post on its X social media account regarding the developments between Palestine and Israel.
The post stated, "We are witnessing widespread human suffering in Palestine and Israel. We join the Turkish government and many world leaders in calling for restraint and a de-escalation of violence."
CALL FOR CALM FROM THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
In a written statement issued yesterday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was noted that the violence and tension occurring in Israel and Palestine were met with deep concern, stating, "We attach great importance to the restoration of calm in the region as soon as possible, and we strongly condemn the loss of civilian lives. We emphasize that acts of violence and the resulting escalations will not benefit anyone, and we call on the parties to act with restraint and refrain from impulsive steps."
The statement further added, "As Turkey, we are always ready to provide whatever contribution we can to ensure that these developments are brought under control before they escalate further and spread to a wider area. In this direction, we are continuing our contacts with the relevant parties intensively. These regrettable developments once again demonstrate the importance of the two-state solution vision. We invite the parties to abandon the use of force and to work for a lasting solution in line with this vision without further delay."
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced yesterday morning that they had launched a comprehensive attack on Israel called "Al-Aqsa Flood." While thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza toward Israel, armed groups also entered residential areas in the region.
The Israeli army also announced that it had launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of fighter jets.
