Protests continue: A person attempted to set themselves on fire at the White House

In Washington, where Israel's genocide in Gaza is being protested, a person claiming to be a journalist attempted to set themselves on fire near the White House.

In footage circulating on social media, a young man was seen being restrained by police at the moment he attempted to set himself ablaze.

'I AM A JOURNALIST, PLEASE STOP THE FAKE NEWS'

"I am a journalist. Please stop the fake news," the person shouted while attempting to set themselves on fire.

While a person in the protest area tried to extinguish the fire by throwing water, police also intervened against the individual attempting to set themselves on fire.

The individual was seen to have burns on their arm.

Eyewitnesses stated that the person who set themselves on fire said they were "a journalist at CBS" and claimed that "CBS is reporting fake news in Gaza."

NUMBER OF PROTESTERS INCREASING

Due to the support provided to Israel, there have now been 4 such self-immolation protests in the US, including today's.

The first occurred in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 1, 2023, when an unidentified person set themselves on fire in front of the Israeli Consulate General in Atlanta to protest US policies supporting Israel.

While the severely injured individual was taken to the hospital, authorities announced that a Palestinian flag was found next to the person during the protest. The name, age, or gender of the individual was kept confidential.

The self-immolation act carried out by 25-year-old Aaron Bushnell, who was on active duty in the US Air Force, in front of the Israeli Embassy in Washington on February 24, 2024, was the most high-profile protest.

In his act, which he broadcast live on social media by setting up his phone, Bushnell, while wearing his military uniform, said, "I will no longer be complicit in genocide," and poured gasoline over his head before setting himself on fire. Bushnell, who shouted "Free Palestine" until he lost his breath, passed away.

In Boston, USA, on September 11, a person who identified themselves as Matt Nelson on social media set themselves on fire after sharing a video protesting the "genocide in Gaza."
