Following the detention of 52 people, including Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu, as part of an operation targeting Etimesgut Municipality, the municipal administration has issued a statement. Deputy Mayor Ebru Keyvan stated that services are continuing and that they are closely monitoring the investigation.
Within the framework of an investigation conducted into Etimesgut Municipality, a total of 52 people, including Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu, were detained. The allegations include irregularities in certain municipal tenders, the preparation of forged documents, and the pursuit of personal gain in various zoning and licensing procedures.
Following the detentions, Etimesgut Deputy Mayor Ebru Keyvan made a statement to the press at the municipal building, saying, "We are at our posts. We stand behind our Mayor. We are following the process closely." Keyvan stated that they do not currently have detailed information and are in constant contact with their legal units and lawyers.
In the investigation, which was launched rapidly following the allegations, the testimonies of personnel working at the municipality have also begun to be taken. Keyvan noted that both the employees and the administration are closely monitoring the process and provided information that a more comprehensive statement would be made at the end of the day.
Pointing out that there have been no disruptions in municipal services, Keyvan emphasized the municipality's determination with the words, "We know and hope that this process, which is sweeping across Turkey, will eventually lead to brighter days. All our efforts and hopes will be in this direction."
Following the developments, municipal council members also held a closed-door meeting to evaluate the roadmap they will follow in the current situation.
Ebru Keyvan declared the administration's support for Beşikçioğlu and the others in custody, saying, "Our wish is for all our friends and our dear Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu to join us as soon as possible."
In the statements, it was also expressed that Beşikçioğlu has carried out positive work in Etimesgut since the day he took office and that the administration is pleased to work with him. As the investigation continues, all eyes will be on the more detailed statement to be made by the municipality during the day.
