Şamil Tayyar reacts to Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and AKP-affiliated accounts: 'Go knock on another door'

In the fire tragedy at the Grand Kartal Hotel located at the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center, 78 citizens tragically lost their lives. Following the disaster, the 'authority and responsibility' debate that began between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the CHP-run Bolu Municipality continues.

Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar, who had previously criticized Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy following the fire, has made new statements regarding Ersoy.

Posting on his X account, Tayyar said of Minister Ersoy, 'The Minister of Tourism is now a heavy burden for the AK Party to carry.'

Stating that Minister Ersoy blames everyone but himself, Tayyar used the following expressions:

'Minister of Tourism Mehmet Ersoy, in a TV broadcast he attended, frantically tried to blame everyone, and despite the fact that the inspection authority for the tourism-certified facility lies with his ministry, he blamed almost every relevant public unit other than himself, let alone the Bolu Municipality.'

'HE CANNOT MAKE THIS STATEMENT WITHOUT THE INTERIOR MINISTER'S APPROVAL'

Naturally, a process began that we are not very accustomed to during the AK Party government. Bolu Provincial Special Administration Secretary General Sırrı Köstereli, as a bureaucrat under the governor's command, refuted Minister Ersoy.

Stating that the 2015 Provincial Special Administration report was only about an address change, he added, 'The inspection authority is with the Ministry of Tourism; it is proven by experience. This bureaucrat would not and cannot make this statement without the governor's knowledge, and the governor would not do so without the Interior Minister's approval.'

'INSTEAD OF REACHING THE TRUTH, HE CHOSE TO COVER IT UP'

Another refutation came from hotel owner Halit Ergül. 'The Ministry of Tourism inspected the hotel on December 15, 2024; they found deficiencies regarding the doors but did not find any deficiencies regarding fire safety measures.' The Minister of Tourism may not know the actions of every one of his bureaucrats, but if he had pricked himself before pricking others, I would have believed in his innocence.

Unfortunately, in this tragic incident where we lost our lives, he chose to cover up the truth instead of reaching it. Let us say it without further ado: The Minister of Tourism is now a heavy burden for the AK Party to carry.'

HE ALSO REACTED TO AKP-AFFILIATED ACCOUNTS: 'GO KNOCK ON ANOTHER DOOR'

Reacting to the posts made by AKP-affiliated accounts regarding the fire tragedy, Tayyar used the following expressions in another post:

'Some accounts that supposedly support the AK Party are making posts that can be summarized as follows: "The CHP is protecting its culprit, but AKP members are being overly sensitive; if you believe in this cause, you must protect the Minister of Tourism even if he is guilty."

Undoubtedly, a bad precedent does not set a rule. Moreover, it is incomprehensible that these friends, who start their speeches with the name of "Allah," pose as religious, and appear to be pious, place political calculations above the fear of God in an incident where we lost 79 lives.

You talk about the justice of Caliph Omar, but you live like a tourist. You talk about the wisdom of Caliph Ali, but you act like a cartoon character. Go knock on another door...'
