Statement from Yunus Emre Geçti's gang: 'We will go to the ECHR'

Statement from Yunus Emre Geçti's gang: 'We will go to the ECHR'

Following the police murder in Ümraniye, the "Caspers" gang released a statement on social media indicating that they would support Yunus Emre Geçti.

In their statement, the gang argued that Geçti had been subjected to persecution by the police and had acted out of revenge.

'WE DON'T NEED ANYONE'

The Caspers gang included the following statements in their announcement:

"As you know, we are in a war, and we were forced to carry out an attack on Bahçelievler State Hospital in recent weeks for our revenge, even if it was unintentional. Soldiers and police were wounded. The person who provided the motorcycle for the hospital attack was our brother Yunus Emre Geçti. When the police found this out at the station, they attempted to mistreat and persecute him."

'WE WILL COVER THE LEGAL FEES'

The statement further expressed that Geçti's legal and prison-related needs would be met by the gang:

"We stand behind Yunus Emre. We will cover his legal expenses and his care in prison; we don't need anyone. Looking after our brother is the most important value that makes us who we are."

'WE WILL APPLY TO THE ECHR'

Claiming that Yunus Emre Geçti was subjected to ill-treatment by the police, the Caspers gang also announced that they would apply to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR):

"We will complain to the ECHR about the persecution and torture carried out by the police. We will take the necessary steps in this regard."

The statement was signed by prominent gang members Ersin Gözgü, Hamuş Atız, and Zuhat Altunç.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In Istanbul's Ümraniye district, Yunus Emre Geçti, who was apprehended for motorcycle theft, opened fire during a scuffle, resulting in the death of police officer Şeyda Yılmaz and the injury of two others, one of whom was a police officer.

19-year-old Yunus Emre Geçti, who has a criminal record of 26 offenses, was brought to the Istanbul Anatolian Courthouse following his processing at the Public Security Branch Directorate.

Geçti was subsequently arrested by the court and sent to prison.

MADE TO WEAR A TRASH BAG

During his transfer to the courthouse, Geçti was made to wear a black trash bag, and two female police officers took the attacker to the vehicle belonging to the Animal Situation Monitoring Bureau.
