The incident occurred yesterday around 23:55 in the Çınar neighborhood of Istanbul's Esenyurt district.

According to allegations, shots were fired into the air by an unidentified person or persons for a so-called New Year's celebration. During the incident, 2 bullets struck the attic floor of a 6-story apartment building.

The bullets, which broke the window and entered the room, hit the wall, and the 16-year-old child sleeping in the room escaped the incident by sheer luck. While family members reported the situation to police teams, an investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Deniz Kara, the owner of the house where the bullets struck, said, “The incident happened around 23:55. There were gunshots, and I called out to the children not to go out onto the balcony. As soon as I said that, there were sounds of glass breaking. My 16-year-old son was sleeping in this room at the time; he ran to the living room in fear and said, 'Dad, they broke the window.' I came and looked, and two bullets had hit the wall. We called the police; two teams arrived and conducted investigations. Thank God the child was not standing; if he had been standing, he might not be here today. What can I say to these reckless people? It is nothing but ignorance.”
