Suspect arrested in UK attack that left 2 children dead
A knife attack took place at a dance school in the English town of Southport. A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested in the incident, which left 2 children dead and 11 people, 9 of them children, injured. Authorities announced that the incident is not being treated as a terrorist attack.
In England, Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy announced that 2 children lost their lives and 11 people, 9 of them children, were injured in the knife attack in the town of Southport.
Kennedy held a joint press conference regarding the attack with North West Ambulance Service official Dave Kitchin and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service Chief Fire Officer Phil Garrigan.
Stating that the police received a report of a knife attack at a dance school at 11:47 local time (13:47 Turkish time), Kennedy announced that two children died due to stab wounds and 9 children were injured, 6 of them critically.
Kennedy also stated that two adults were critically injured, noting that these individuals were wounded while trying to protect the children.
