Syrian army continues its advance: SDF forces begin to surrender

As tensions have risen in recent days between the Syrian army and the Syrian PKK-affiliated SDF forces in the Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood of Aleppo, Syria, it has been stated that the operations carried out by the army have largely concluded. With the army's advance in the neighborhood, almost the entire region has come under the control of Syrian security forces.

It was reported that the army used various heavy weapons as part of the operation, which was launched after the SDF violated the ceasefire yesterday evening. According to information obtained from the region, although SDF militants continued to show resistance for a while, they lost their positions in the face of the Syrian army's determined operation.

During the operation, Syrian forces opened two humanitarian corridors, ensuring that civilians could safely exit the neighborhood. However, some sources alleged that SDF members attempted to hold civilians in the area by force.

THE NUMBER OF THOSE SURRENDERING IS INCREASING

According to information received from field sources, while some SDF members retreated into tunnels beneath Aleppo following the clashes, it is stated that army forces have begun clearing operations in these tunnels. While clashes in the region are still continuing at certain points, it has been noted that the number of SDF members surrendering is increasing.
