The investigation launched into two lieutenants who took an oath with their swords at the Military Academy graduation ceremony has seen a new development.

According to information obtained by Odatv, a disciplinary investigation has also been launched against Lieutenant Serhat Dündar. The Land Forces Command sent a letter to the unit where Dündar serves, requesting his defense statement.

BEHAVIOR CONTRARY TO DISCIPLINARY RULES

The grounds for the disciplinary investigation launched against the lieutenants were evaluated as actions that "could constitute indiscipline" under Article 20/1-c of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) Law and Article 9 of the TSK High Disciplinary Board Regulation. In this context, the lieutenants were asked to provide their defense statements against the accusation of "engaging in behavior that hinders service."

DEADLINE SET FOR DEFENSE STATEMENTS

Following the "Disciplinary Investigation Result Report" completed on November 13, 2024, notifications were issued to the lieutenants as of November 15, 2024, requiring them to submit their defense statements within three days. It was reported that an additional two-day extension would be granted to those who could not complete their defense within the initial period.

TOOK PLACE WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF COMMANDERS

Journalist Aytunç Erkin stated that the event was not carried out in secret as has been exaggerated, noting, "The commanders were aware." Arguing that former FETÖ members are blowing this incident out of proportion, Erkin said the situation has actually been oversimplified.
