Transfer claim from YENİ Party to shake up CHP: Nearly 200 mayors...

Following the decision that brought Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to the CHP Chairmanship by absolute nullity, a historic rupture occurred in the party as he closed the doors to the extraordinary congress calls made by the elected Chairman Özgür Özel.

Özgür Özel founded the YENİ Party on July 24 along with 90 deputies. During the party's first Party Assembly (PM) meeting, the members of the Central Executive Board (MYK) were also finalized. The nine-member MYK list received the necessary authorization from the PM.

ORGANIZATION MESSAGE IN FIRST MEETINGS

According to a report by Birgün, YENİ Party executives speaking at the PM and MYK meetings held on July 25, 2026, stated that "the first step of the march to power has been taken." Party sources, noting that Özgür Özel appointed Ensar Aytekin as Deputy Chairman in charge of Organizations and Nurhayat Altaca Kayışoğlu as Deputy Chairman in charge of Overseas Organization, assessed that, "Both names are very experienced. A major mobilization for organization will begin."

“YENİ PARTY'S NUMBER OF DEPUTIES WILL REACH 100 IN A SHORT TIME”

It has been suggested that the number of seats in Parliament held by the YENİ Party, which was founded by 91 deputies who left the CHP along with Özgür Özel, could increase in the coming period. In assessments made within the party, it was argued that some names who have not yet left the CHP could join the ranks of the YENİ Party in a short time, and the view that "the YENİ Party's number of deputies will reach 100 in a short time" was expressed.

NEARLY 200 MAYORS ON THE WAY TO YENİ PARTY

On the other hand, it was stated that a large number of mayors and municipal council members who remained in the CHP after July 24 are also expected to switch to the YENİ Party. Party sources alleged that approximately 200 mayors have requested to join the YENİ Party.

WORK UNDERWAY FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

The YENİ Party management stated that they are focusing on a gradual model rather than rapid and mass transitions in municipalities. It was reported that a working committee established under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman in charge of Local Governments Yaşar Tüzün is conducting comprehensive preparations.

One of the party's key figures stated, "In addition to the mayors, the situations of municipal council members and provincial general assembly members will also be evaluated one by one."

It was stated that the YENİ Party management will evaluate the transition requests by observing the current balances in municipal councils. While party sources conveyed that potential participations are being planned in a way that will not disrupt the administrative functioning of the municipalities and will not lead to new crises on the opposition front, they stated that the first wave of transitions could be announced to the public during the week of July 27.
