Tuncay Sonel's assets revealed

Following the revelation that Gülistan Doku, who went missing in Tunceli on January 5, 2020, was a victim of murder, detailed examinations of the file conducted years later in the ongoing investigation determined that the murder had been covered up by the then-Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel.

Following the arrest of his son, Mustafa Türkay Sonel, as a murder suspect within the scope of the investigation, Tuncay Sonel was also arrested on charges of cover-up and sent to prison. Later, his wife, Handan Sonel, was also arrested as part of the investigation.

PROPERTIES IDENTIFIED IN FINANCIAL REVIEW

A list of properties registered in Tuncay Sonel's name was obtained during the financial reviews conducted as part of the investigation.

According to the report by Yeniçağ, 40 shops, a wedding hall, 6 plots of land, vineyards, and residences with deeds in Tuncay Sonel's name were identified.

While it was stated that the majority of the properties are located in Adana, it was observed that Sonel owns two plots of land, a vineyard, and an apartment in Ankara, as well as a residence in Istanbul.

ASSET DECLARATION IN WIFE'S TESTIMONY

The statements regarding assets made by Handan Sonel, who was arrested as part of the investigation, during her testimony at the prosecutor's office were also reflected in the file.

Handan Sonel declared the following assets in her testimony:

• A hobby garden in Ankara worth 3 million lira in her own name
• A plot of land in the Gazipaşa district of Antalya
• A house in Ankara in Tuncay Sonel's name
• A 5-story business center in Adana with a monthly rental income of 700 thousand lira from it
• A 1+1 apartment in Istanbul in the name of their son, Mustafa Türkay Sonel
• 2 BMW brand automobiles
• Jewelry worth 13.4 million lira
