Ufuk Uras, who met with Devlet Bahçeli, says 'There is serious preparation': 'It could be a partial amnesty or...'
Ufuk Uras made statements regarding his meeting with MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli. Stating that Bahçeli expects the first step from the AKP, Uras said, "From what I see, there is serious preparation. This could be a partial amnesty or something regarding the mother tongue in the constitution."
As the repercussions of the call made by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli for the terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan continue, a surprise meeting took place at the MHP Headquarters.
Ufuk Uras, one of the founders of the ÖDP, visited MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli.
Stating that before his visit to Bahçeli, he met with DEM Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan and party spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan, and afterwards with Ahmet Türk, the Mardin Mayor who was replaced by a trustee, Uras said, "Mr. Tuncer finds the path opened by Bahçeli very positive; we made a general assessment. Of course, they are waiting for a step. I went to Mr. Devlet later, and when I went, I told him that I had met with the DEM Party before you. After leaving Mr. Devlet, I called Bakırhan and Doğan in the same way and explained the meeting."
"HE EXPECTS THE FIRST STEP FROM THE AK PARTY"
Relaying his meeting with Devlet Bahçeli, Ufuk Uras used the expressions, "Mr. Devlet expects the first step from the AK Party, and he emphasized this by stressing the number, saying 'we have 50 deputies in parliament.' Bahçeli expects support from AK Party deputies."
"THERE IS SERIOUS PREPARATION"
Speaking to Habertürk columnist Nagehan Alçı, known for her closeness to the government, Uras said, "Ms. Nagehan, from what I see, there is serious preparation. This could be a partial amnesty or something regarding the mother tongue in the constitution; ultimately, it is a subject that is being thought about and prepared for."
